Skirting boards are a small detail in the interior, but the material they are made of, as well as their size, shape, and color, can determine the appearance of the room. The junction of the floor with the wall is a very exposed area that requires careful finishing. Usually, skirting boards are installed here because they perform a whole set of tasks:

conceal the expansion joint - (a gap several to several dozen millimeters wide between the floor and the wall, allowing for movements caused by the shrinking and expanding of wooden planks),
protect walls from damage and dirt - (when vacuuming or mopping household floors, it is easy to leave unsightly marks on the walls. Skirting boards are much more resistant than plaster or paint, making them a practical finish for the edges of the floor),
allow for cable distribution - (this is a way to avoid extension cords and tangles of wires by using special channels where cables can be hidden),
create an aesthetic 'closure' of the interior - (creating a harmonious connection between the floor and walls, as well as carpentry. Internal doors are an important component of the composition, so when choosing skirting boards, it is worth considering their shape, color, and finish),
