The best wooden floors

Oak – the perfect species for flooring

Thinking of a durable, damage-resistant, and beautiful material, it's worth choosing traditional and extremely popular oak in Poland. Boards made from oak not only impress with their beauty, but also with their functionality. While ordinary laminate flooring can stay in good condition for a few years, oak hardwood flooring can look good for even several decades. It is durable, indicated by its high Brinell hardness rating (3.7), easy to maintain, and comfortable for daily use. It is the perfect choice for any interior, even one with high traffic.

Engineered board construction

We have written many times about how wooden floors are built to last. But the question is – what makes this possible? The engineered construction of the board is certainly crucial. It makes the floor more resistant to distortions, and limits the natural movement of wood. Thanks to the top layer of the board being made from noble wood (hardwood species are better than softwood), the shrinkage of the board is smaller than solid wood, making the entire hardwood floor more stable and durable. Moreover, engineered flooring is excellent for installation with underfloor heating – it is a material resistant to temperature changes, moisture fluctuations, and deformations caused by humidity. The layers of such boards are cross-bonded, ensuring that the dimensions remain stable.

Quality of the bottom layer
Quality of the bottom layer

The bottom layer is very important. It must be of high quality. A sufficiently strong base affects the hardness of the top layer by strengthening it. Considering the engineered construction of the board, recommended species for the top layer are hardwoods, such as oak and birch. Also important is the proportion between individual layers – the bottom layer should be thick enough to prevent warping of the top layer. So, if the top layer is 4 mm, the counter-ply layer should be at least 7 mm. At Parkiet Studio, there are solid boards made of oak wood, with an impressive thickness of noble wood up to 10 mm, as well as engineered boards with a top layer ranging from 3.5 to 6 mm. The former can be renovated up to 9 times, while the latter – depending on the chosen thickness – 3 to 6 times.

Board finishing

The durability and aesthetics of wooden floors also depend on their finishing system. An important criterion for selecting floor manufacturers for our offer is the presence of finishes with the strongest and most resistant components available on the market. We ensure that only ecological, hypoallergenic, and safe-for-health products are used for varnishing and oiling the floors available with us. Additionally, we ensure that the boards are covered with the appropriate amount and weight of lacquer or oil.

Price is not everything

Avoid products that tempt with exceptionally low prices. Wood is a natural treasure, a high-quality and long-lasting material, so it is not cheap. The exceptionally low cost of wooden boards results in poor quality, resistance, and low durability. It involves inferior raw material, glue, plywood, lacquer, or oil, and consequently, a higher probability that the floor will be damaged by factors such as moisture or underfloor heating. Ultimately, this also guarantees a quick and costly renovation, which over time will convince you to opt for more proven and high-quality solutions.

By coming to Parkiet Studio, you can be sure that you will find the highest quality products. Our partners take care not only of the proper finishing of the boards but the entire production process. The floors available with us are made using the latest technologies and modern machinery park, and the wood itself is properly seasoned and dried.
