How to connect a wooden floor with stone or ceramic tiles?

There are several ways to combine parquet or wooden boards with tiles.

The simplest and most aesthetic way is to use flexible grout for the joint. Beko or SikaFlex sealants are most commonly used for this purpose. Such joint can be as narrow as 3-5 mm, which combined with a wide range of colors of such grouts allows for almost invisible joint.

An additional advantage of this solution is that silicone sealant is very easy to maintain. When it gets dirty, it can be easily cleaned, which cannot be said, for example, about a joint made with cork.

The method of filling joints with cork brings certain complications. Firstly, as mentioned earlier, it gets dirty easily, and secondly, it may crumble over time. Furthermore, cork joints require a wider expansion joint and are available in only one color, making the joint more visible.

The last type of joint is connecting floors with a threshold strip. These are usually aluminum strips but can also be brass, anodized, or wood-like. They are usually used when there is a level difference between a wooden floor and a tile floor, for example. The difference can be masked with a threshold strip, but it creates an impractical step, which not only looks unattractive but can also be a tripping hazard.
