Types of laying wooden floors

The way you arrange the floor will affect the look of your room and the optical effect you will ultimately achieve. The layout of the floorboards can either enlarge the space or make it appear smaller, so it's a choice that will determine not only the functionality of the interior but also its aesthetic. One of the basic and most universal principles states that the direction of laying panels or boards should be determined by the direction of light.

A brief description of installation methods
Horizontal Direction

If your space is a narrow room, opt for a horizontal arrangement of boards. This will visually expand the space, which will look best when you use a light color palette in both the flooring and walls (avoid dark colors as they can make the space appear even narrower than it actually is).

Vertical Direction
Vertical Direction

If your room is short, go for a vertical layout of panels or boards to create a sense of depth that will make the entire space appear longer. Choose a light, natural wood color (optically enlarging the room) and pair it with darker walls for the best effect.

Diagonally

In a small interior, use a diagonal floor layout. Lay it at an angle to the wall, which will visually enlarge the space and create an interesting, original arrangement. To gain even more, opt for a 10-degree angle layout of the boards. This way, you will visually connect the walls of adjacent rooms, making your space seem more open.
